The entire Jones clan was coming to LA for Turkey Weekend, so Jamie Jones pulled some strings with her parents to fly out to LA by herself the weekend before Thanksgiving. Tami Jones was pretty nervous about sending Jamie on an airplane all alone, but I pulled out the "well I flew to the Chicago O'Hare Airport (en route to KS City to see my sister) all alone when I was 14 and I lived" story, so Tami relented. Wahoo!
Jamie and Cory played tennis on Saturday morning, (November 20, 2010) and then we headed to the LA Zoo. It started raining the second we got there and I wanted to leave, but Jamie had just paid for a ticket so we decided to brave the elements. Fortunately the weather cleared after 15 or so minutes and we were set to enjoy the rest of our time at the Zoo.
The Rhino put on quite the show for us, snorting, walking around, eating the leaves on the tree, etc. It's so crazy to see a rhino move---such a big animal on such stubby legs.
We saw the tigers next; they were "in heat" or whatever it's called, and after seeing and hearing some interesting things we were sure Tami Jones was never going to let Jamie come visit us again! :)
We came home from the zoo and hung out, watched not one, but two movies, and pulled out one of my homemade freezer meals for dinner. I love me a good freezer meal!
On Monday, November 22, 2010, Cory had to go back to school, so I took Jamie and the girls to the Long Beach Aquarium. We had heard great things about this place and it definitely did not disappoint. Emily and Natalie were in fish heaven! We pet rays, sea cucumbers, sea stars, and anemones. We saw a bunch of sharks, Nemo and Dory, lobsters, jellyfish, crabs, the list goes on. We even walked in a tunnel underneath a giant tank filled with tons of sea life, including "Dude Crush" the sea turtle, which Emily loved. It was all very entertaining.
Jay, Tami, and Great G&G Jones arrived on Monday night, and the rest of our Turkey Weekend Adventure began!

Can I just say its hilarious to me that my mom was nervous about sending Jamie on an airplane to LA at 14 when I went to Japan at 14. I was with Saki on the way there, but all alone on the way back. :P
